Kyle Powell - MA, LPC

My name is Kyle Powell-Bokor, MA LPC.  I graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.  I then went on to earn my master’s degree in counseling from Oakland University.  I have been a fully licensed counselor (LPC) for over 30 years.  I went into this field because of a familial issue that I experienced as a child. I saw how therapy, support and encouragement could change people, and families, for the better. I chose to focus my practice on those principles that I learned first-hand. I believe that the relationship and connection between the therapist and the client are paramount to working towards common goals and improved mental health.

My passion in the field is working with children (6 and above), adolescents, teenagers and young adults. I enjoy connecting with young people that may have challenges connecting with others in their world. With solution focused discussions and plans, I strive to assist these clients in growth, gaining confidence, and showing pride of their choices. I am familiar with the education system’s behavior planning, 504’s and IEP (for behavior) development. If there is a need for coordination of care with school officials and/or participation in the development of behavior plans, I will gladly be a part of that team. Surrounding the student with as much support as possible is essential for those individuals.

In addition, I am also a strong ally to the LGBTQ+ community and enjoy helping people navigate through that topic’s specific stressors.

Over the years, I have also spent time working with many other difficulties and struggles with my clients. Some of these difficulties include depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, ADD/ADHD, anger reactions, communication struggles, wanting to be more assertive in their environments, and other mood related difficulties.

Thank you for considering me to be a team member on your wellness journey!
